Who We Are
Ag Processing Inc a cooperative (AGP®) is a farmer-owned cooperative engaged in the procurement, processing, and marketing of grains and grain products.
AGP remains committed to the success of its owners – 184 local cooperatives and five regional cooperatives representing over 250,000 farmers throughout the Midwest.
AGP’s Reason for Existence is to put more money into the pockets of U.S. farmers. That strategy includes production and marketing of environmentally-friendly renewable fuels which has created additional demand for U.S. farmers’ crops.
AGP Renewable Fuels Business
AGP entered the ethanol business in 1995 with its corn processing plant in Hastings, NE. A year later, the company pioneered the soy biodiesel industry with completion of the first purpose-built soy biodiesel plant in the U.S. with its production facility at Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. In 2007, AGP’s soy biodiesel production capacity was doubled with a new plant at St. Joseph, Missouri.
AGP’s renewable fuel operations, along with growth in ethanol and soy biodiesel production throughout the U.S., have created jobs, fostered rural development, boosted income opportunities for farmers, reduced U.S. dependence on foreign oil, and provided consumers with sustainable, environmentally-friendly energy.
Incredibly, the very existence of the U.S. renewable fuels industry is being threatened by a proposed rule to the 2007 Energy Bill by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
